The MSM30 Index decreased 0.09 per cent to close at 5,982 points. The advance to decline ratio at the end of the trading session stood at 0.38:1. The total shares exchanged decreased by 12.62 per cent to 3.093 million shares and the total value traded decreased by 6.58 per cent to RO1.088 million.

The market breadth was negative with six gainers and 16 losers out of 37 traded securities.

Amongst the sectors, Banking and Investment Sector decreased 0.06 per cent to close at 6,535 points. The Services and Insurance Sector decreased 0.05 per cent to close at 2,533 points. The Industrial Sector decreased 0.38 per cent to close at 6,669 points.

The top two gainers were Oman Textile Holding (+2.67%) and Nat. Bank of Oman (+0.91%) to close at RO0.462 and RO0.332.

The top two losers were Nat. Mineral Water (-4.62%) and Dhofar Cattlefeed (-2.26%) to close at RO0.062 and RO0.130.

The top two by volume traded were Nat. Bank of Oman (0.736 million shares) and Bank Sohar (0.534 million shares). The top two by value traded were Nat. Bank of Oman (RO0.245 million) and BankMuscat (RO0.161 million).

Gulf stocks fall

In the Gulf, Dubai shares fell amid investors concern the debt crisis in Europe. Kuwait’s gauge declined 1.6 per cent. Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul All Share Index retreated 1.1 per cent. Bahrain’s index lost 0.2 per cent and Qatar’s was little changed.
