Kuwait Stock Exchange (KSE) ended yesterday's session on a mixed note as heavy weight Zain stock retreated pushing Global weighted index down, while the last minute trading reversed KSE price index direction to end with marginal gains.

Global General Index (GGI) fell by 0.66 points (0.35 percent) during the session to reach 187.85 points. Whereas, the KSE Price Index dipped 3.10 points (0.05 percent) yesterday and closed at 6,643.70 points. Market capitalization went down by KD113.56mn yesterday to reach KD31.05mn.

Market breadth

During the session, 115 companies were traded. Market breadth was skewed towards decliners, as 27 equities advanced versus 42 that retreated. A total of 143 stocks remained unchanged during yesterday's trading session.

Trading activities ended on a negative note yesterday as volume of shares traded on the exchange decreased by 29.46 percent to reach 127.37mn shares, and value of shares traded decreased by 13.27 percent to stand at KD22.30mn. The Real estate Sector was the volume leader for the fifth day in a row, accounting for 25.94 percent of total market volume. The Banking Sector was the value leader, accounting for 31.01 percent of total market value. Investors Holding Group Co was the volume leader for the sixth consecutive day, with a total traded volume of 18.00mn shares. Gulf Bank was the value leader, with a total traded value of KD3.03mn.

In terms of top gainers, Ithmaar Bank increased its gains as it took the top spot, adding 8.33 percent and closed at KD0.033, and Sanam Real Estate Company recouped Sunday'ss losses of 7.58 percent, gaining 8.20 percent during the session, and closed at KD0.122, making it the second biggest gainer in the market. On the other hand, Al-Themar International Holding Co was the biggest loser, shedding 7.41 percent, and closet at KD0.100.
