The MSM 30 Index ended lower at 6,943.31 points, down by 0.12 per cent. MSM Shariah Index also declined at 1,061.14 points, down by 0.42 per cent.
Al Batinah Development was the most active in terms of volume, while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover.
Galfar Engineering, which gained 6.09 per cent, remained the top gainer of the day, while Raysut Cement declined by 4.03 per cent making it the top loser.
Altogether 1,668 trades were executed in yesterday's session generating a turnover of OMR9.91 million with over 26.54 million shares traded.
Out of 48 traded stocks, 12 advanced, 16 declined and 20 remained unchanged.
Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune OMR2.26 million worth of shares followed by Omani investors at OMR377,000, while Omani investors were net sellers amounting to OMR1.91 million followed by GCC and Arab investors at OMR352,000 .
Financial Sector Index closed at 8,361.79 points, up by 0.16 per cent. BankDhofar, Al Batinah Development , HSBC Bank and Taageer Finance increased by 2.13 per cent, 2.02 per cent, 1.27 per cent and 0.70 per cent, respectively. Al Shariqya Investment, Oman United Insurance, Al Anwar Holding and Gulf Investment Services declined by 2.67 per cent, 2.33 per cent, 1.62 per cent and 1.41 per cent, respectively.
Industrial Sector Index closed at 10,138.18 points, up by 0.01 per cent.
Galfar Engineering, Salalah Mills and Oman Cement increased by 6.09 per cent, 0.51 per cent and 0.69 per cent respectively. Raysut Cement declined by 4.03 per cent.
