Propelled by trading in large cap financials, MSM 30 Index ended the quarter on a positive note at 5,787.69 points, up by 0.47 per cent. On the other hand, MSM Shariah Index declined 0.15 per cent to close at 902.01 points.

Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover. Wednesday’s top gainer was Bank Muscat, up by 5 per cent whereas Oman Cements, down by 3.08 per cent was the top loser.

As many as 1,091 trades were executed in the session generating a turnover of OMR7.3 million with over 26.5 million shares changing hands. Out of 43 traded securities, 15 advanced, 8 declined and 20 remained unchanged.

At the close of the session, Omani investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR222,000 followed by foreign investors at OMR62,000. Arab and GCC investors, who were net sellers, sold shares amounting to OMR284,000.

Financial Index had gains of 0.33 per cent to close at 6,893.94 points. Bank Muscat, United Finance, Ahli Bank, Bank Sohar and Al Anwar Holding increased 5 per cent, 1.48 per cent, 1.01 per cent, 0.63 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively. NBO, Oman & Emirates Holding, HSBC Bank and Oman United Insurance declined 1.35 per cent, 1.01 per cent, 0.89 per cent and 0.87 per cent respectively.

Industrial Index declined 0.29 per cent to close at 7,305.94 points. Oman Packaging, Gulf International Chemicals, Dhofar Cattlefeed and Oman Cables increased 4.17 per cent, 1.96 per cent, 1 per cent and 0.81 per cent respectively. Oman Cement and Galfar Engineering declined 3.08 per cent and 1.08 per cent respectively.

Services Index advanced 0.14 per cent to end the session at 3,225.49 points. Al Batinah Power, Phoenix Power, OIFC and Ooredoo gained 1.43 per cent, 1.34 per cent, 0.61 per cent and 0.53 per cent respectively. Al Jazeera Services, down by 1.49 per cent, was the only sector loser.
