Dubai developer Nakheel said on Monday it has opened Jumeirah Park Pavilion, the first of five community retail malls underway across Dubai.

Jumeirah Park Pavilion, the first new project to completed by Nakheel post-restructuring, is a 10,600 square metre retail and dining facility in the heart of New Dubai.

It has 28 shops, restaurants and cafes, including a Geant Easy supermarket as the anchor store, Nakheel said in a statement.

Primarily serving residents in Nakheel’s Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Islands and Jumeirah Village communities, the centre is the blueprint for a collection of neighbourhood malls by Nakheel.

Others are underway at Discovery Gardens (already partly open and due to fully open this month), Al Furjan, International City, Jumeirah Islands and Badrah, with more in the pipeline.

Speaking at the opening of Jumeirah Park Pavilion, Nakheel chairman Ali Rashid Lootah said: “This is another key milestone for Nakheel. Jumeirah Park Pavilion is a place to meet, dine and socialise as well as a ‘one-stop-shop’ for every day conveniences and facilities.”

“Nakheel Pavilions are part of our commitment to enhancing and improving our communities with new services and facilities for the thousands of people who live in them. They also promote economic, social and environmental sustainability, by creating jobs, bringing people together and cutting car use.”

The company is also building large-scale malls at Palm Jumeirah, Deira Islands and Jumeirah Village and expanding Dragon Mart and Ibn Battuta malls.

Nakheel no longer responds to media enquiries from Arabian Business, nor does it grant Arabian Business access to any of its media events or announcements.
