National Bank of Oman’s (NBO) Ibtikar platform, an initiative aimed at encouraging employees to develop innovative service solutions that enhance efficiency and improve customer experience, has produced a series of pioneering ideas that help position NBO at the forefront of technological leadership.
Four employees won the competition, with their unique proposals focusing on collection and recovery, saving, customer service and automation of banking transactions. NBO plans to begin introducing these innovations across the bank, underpinning its determination to unlock potential and build key differentiators.
The Ibtikar platform was introduced in 2014 with the underlying objective of motivating employees to produce original ideas that boost the bank’s turnaround time and overall business performance, create synergies between departments and staff, and solidify NBO’s vision to be the ‘bank of choice’ in the sultanate.
The competition unfolded with shortlisted staff pitching their ideas in front of NBO’s Chairman, board members, CEO, senior management and other colleagues. A panel of three judges, including an international expert, assessed each innovation in detail before selecting four winning submissions.
NBO’s Ibtikar platform aims to empower talented employees to achieve more to spark their creativity in a way that would not only benefit them, but the bank’s customers as well.
The implementation of programmes like this showcase the bank’s ability to harness innovation by engaging, informing and educating staff.
All participants in the scheme are recognised and winners are rewarded for their efforts.
