National Marine Dredging Company (NMDC) has pledged its support to the Abu Dhabi Global Summit of Marine & Maritime Leaders, by becoming the diamond sponsor.

The summit will be held on January 20 at The St Regis Saadiyat Island Resort in Abu Dhabi and is being organized by Tasneef and Mare Forum.

As diamond sponsors, NMDC will also support the Abu Dhabi Maritime Youth Summit, which will be held on the sidelines of the main summit.

Rashed Al Hebsi, chief executive officer, Tasneef, said: "We are proud of National Marine Dredging Company, which has strengthened UAE’s reputation globally, in the field of marine dredging with its extraordinary successes, especially in the momentous new Suez Canal project, proving their professionalism.

"Their sponsorship will be of immense value to the summit which will be held for the first time in Abu Dhabi, as they will be able to shed light on the significant dredging industry, which is vital for our ports, marine and oil facilities. I am confident that the contribution of NMDC to the summit will be a game-changer, just like its projects have changed the world map.”

Yasser Zaghloul, chief executive officer, NMDC, said: “We owe all our success to the unlimited support of the UAE leadership which has helped us become a leading global company in the field of marine dredging. Therefore, it is natural for us to be at the forefront, when it comes to supporting the UAE as a global shipping hub.

"We would like to thank Tasneef and Mare Forum for organising both summits, which will attract more international companies to the UAE and make it a world centre in this sector, especially with the potential the country has along with its excellent infrastructure."

On the sidelines of the agreement by NMDC with Tasneef, to sponsor the summit, there is growing appreciation for the achievements of Tasneef and NMDC.

This includes being recognised as the first certified national society for maritime classification by the Arab world, as well as its classification of ‘Sahara Notation’ for vessels operating in warm areas, the creation of the “UAE Yacht Code” and creating standards for floating villas.

NMDC in turn, has become a leading innovative global company in the field of marine dredging, making it vital for port expansion for marine and real estate development and the exploration of oil and gas.

Meanwhile, Tasneef Academy has announced that it intends to organise the Maritime Youth Summit on an annual basis and this will provide the UAE national youth with inspiration, while developing their capabilities; by broadening the base of participation to include pioneering entrepreneurs, national leaders and innovators from the international maritime field.
