A delegation representing the oil, gas and petrochemicals sectors in the kingdom visited China last week, and held meetings with senior officials in China National Energy Administration (NEA), and those of key Chinese oil, gas and petrochemicals companies.
The visit was part of the meeting of the Joint Bahraini-Chinese Committee, established as per a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two countries on the sidelines of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's historic visit to China in September, 2013.
Secretary-General of the National Oil and Gas Authority (NOGA) Dr. Ahmed Ali Al-Sharyan chaired the Bahraini side during the meeting, in the presence of the Bahraini Ambassador to China Dr. Anwar Al-Abdulla.
Deputy NEA Secretary-General, Deputy Director and officials participated in the meeting, which was also attended by representatives of 40 Chinese oil, gas and petrochemicals companies.
A delegation of the Economic Development Board (EDB)'s office here also joined the meeting.
The Kingdom's delegation also held a meeting with representatives of Chinese companies.
It also met senior officials of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC)'s Research Institute of Petroleum Exploration and Development (RIPED) and discussed ways of overcoming the physical obstacles facing the extraction of oil from old wells.
The delegation also met senior officials of the Dongying-based Kerui company, a Chinese supplier of solutions and equipment for oil fields and deposits, such as drilling rigs, compressors and technical and engineering services for this industry.
A documentary on the Kerui Group's operations and expertise was screened.
The two sides agreed to exchange information on the wells to be drilled in Bahrain.
