Etisalat subscribers in the UAE have been given the option to share their data with family and friends with a service fee of Dh3 per 100MB.
The telecom operator's subscribers already have the option to transfer mobile balance for voice calls to family and friends in the country.
Etisalat on Saturday announced the launch of the new data balance transfer service, a unique feature allowing users to transfer extra data to friends and family using etisalat mobile lines.
All postpaid and prepaid subscribers with a monthly plan of 1GB or more can utilise this service. To transfer data, customers should dial #100# and follow the instructions.
After successful data balance transfer both sender and receiver would receive an SMS confirmation. The receiver can track usage from the transferred data balance by dialling *121*170#.
Khaled Elkhouly, chief consumer officer at etisalat, said: "[The] launch of the unique data balance transfer service is another achievement and addition to etisalat's innovative mobile data and device offerings."
"With this new proposition, etisalat is ushering in more users to affordable connectivity and smart devices. Customers can now help others by sharing their extra data, in turn enabling them to access data anywhere anytime in the country addressing their evolving requirements of data usage," he added.
