MSM30 Index ended its two day rally to close on a negative note at 6,369.64 points, down by 1.08 per cent. MSM Sharia index closed at 971.21 points, down by 0.44 per cent. Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of volume as well as turnover.
The top gainer of the day was Sembcorp Salalah, up by 0.69 per cent, while Al Sharqia Investments, down by 6.16 per cent, was the top loser of the day.
A total number of 1,365 trades were executed during the day's trading session generating turnover of OMR4.4 million with more than 14.1 million shares changing hands. Out of 40 traded stocks, three advanced, 24 declined and 13 remained unchanged.
Foreign investors were net buyers for OMR288,000 while Omani investors were net sellers for OMR211,000 followed by GCC & Arab Investors for OMR76,000 worth of shares.
Financial Index
Financial Index shed 1.55 per cent and ended the day at 7,684.26 points. Al Sharqia Investments, Oman & Emirates Holding, Al Anwar Holding, Al Batinah Development and Gulf Investment Services decreased by 6.16 per cent, 5.15 per cent, 4.29 per cent, 4.10 per cent and 3.95 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index declined by 0.70 per cent and closed at 8,478.57 points. Oman Cement, up by 0.38 per cent, was the only sector gainer. Galfar Engineering, Al Maha Ceramics, Al Hassan Engineering, Gulf International Chemicals and Al Anwar Ceramics decreased by 5.35 per cent, 4.04 per cent, 2.88 per cent, 2.35 per cent and 1.65 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index closed at 3,521.63 points, down by 0.52 per cent. Sembcorp Salalah and Al Jazeera Services increased by 0.69 per cent and 0.64 per cent respectively. OIFC, Ooredoo, Renaissance Services, Al Batinah Power and Al Suwadi Power decreased by 3.49 per cent, 2.37 per cent, 1.64 per cent, 0.58 per cent and 0.58 per cent respectively.
