Weighed down by continued woes in the industrial sector, the MSM 30 declined by 0.71 per cent to close at 6,059.10 points. MSM Shariah Index also closed lower at 938.96 points, down by 1.40 per cent
Al Suwadi Power was the most active in terms of volume while, Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of turnover. Oman & Emirates Holding, up by 2.27 per cent was the top gainer, while Al Anwar Ceramics, which fell by 7.85 per cent, lost the most.
Altogether 1,202 trades were executed in the day's session generating a turnover of OMR4.7 million with more than 15.9 million shares changing hands. Out of 42 traded stocks, 7 advanced, 24 declined and 11 remained unchanged. At close of the session, Omani investors remained net buyers to the tune of OMR2.03 million worth of shares, while GCC & Arab investors were net sellers at OMR1.6 million, followed by foreign investors, who sold shares amounting to OMR432,000.
The financial Index decreased by 0.21 per cent to close at 7,373.25 points. Oman & Emirates Holding, Ominvest, Ahli Bank and Al Sharqia Investments increased by 2.27 per cent, 1.99 per cent, 1.49 per cent and 0.74 per cent respectively. Oman United Insurance, Al Madina Takaful, Al Madina Investments, Gulf Investment Services and ONIC Holding decreased by 6.82 per cent, 3.37 per cent, 3.03 per cent, 2.56 per cent and 1.26 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index continued on its downtrend, posting another day of strong losses to close at 8,401.61 points, down by 2.41 per cent. Al Anwar Ceramics, Oman Fisheries, A'Saffa Foods, Raysut Cement and National Aluminium Products decreased by 7.85 per cent, 5.80 per cent, 5.21 per cent, 5 per cent and 3.55 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index ended the day at 3,458.12 points, up marginally by 0.06 per cent. Omantel, Sembcorp Salalah and Al Suwadi Power increased by 0.97 per cent, 0.71 per cent and 0.59 per cent respectively. OIFC, Oman Education & Training, Al Batinah Power and Ooredoo declined by 3.21 per cent, 2.14 per cent, 0.59 per cent and 0.33 per cent respectively.
