Taking a cue from positive sentiment in the regional markets, the MSM 30 Index ended Sunday's trading session at 7,138.97 points, up by 0.85 per cent. The MSM Shariah index also inched up by 0.26 per cent at 1,069.23 points.
Gulf Investment Services was the most active in terms of volume, while Bank Muscat was the most active in terms of turnover. The top gainer was Majan Glass, up by 7.69 per cent. Maha Ceramics, which declined by 1.29 per cent, lost the most.
Altogether 1,322 trades were executed in the day's session generating a turnover of OMR6.5 million with more than 16.7 million shares changing hands. Out of 51 traded stocks, 35 advanced, 1 declined and 15 remained unchanged.
Omani investors remained net buyers to the tune of OMR537,000 worth of shares followed GCC & Arab investors at OMR441,000. Foreign investors, who were net sellers, sold stocks amounting to OMR978,000.
The financial Index was the best performing sub-index and closed at 8,544.35 points, up by 1.41 per ent. Al Madina Investments, Gulf Investment Services, Al Sharqia Investments, Bank Sohar and Ominvest increased by 3.95 per cent 2.93 per cent, 2.82 per cent, 2.64 per cent and 2.38 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index showed strong gains and ended the trading session at 9,714.62 points, up by 0.65 per cent. Majan Glass, Galfar Engineering, National Aluminium Products, Al Hassan Engineering and Dhofar Cattlefeed increased by 7.69 per cent, 6.02 per cent, 4.09 per cent, 3.15 per cent and 1.60 per cent respectively.
Al Maha Ceramics decreased by 1.29 per cent to close at 608 baisas. Services Sector Index advanced by 0.45 per cent to close at 3,731.34 points. ACWA Power, Al Batinah Power, Al Suwadi Power, Al Jazeera Services and OIFC increased by 6.50 per cent, 2.20 per cent, 2.20 per cent, 1.99 per cent and 1.84 per cent respectively.
