The MSM 30 Index ended on a negative note to close at 6901.17 points, down by 0.66 per cent. The MSM Shariah index also declined by 0.54 per cent at 1,036.20 points.
Oman& Emirates was the most active in terms of volume, while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. Al Anwar Ceramic was the top gainer, closing up by 1.16 per cent, while National Gas which dropped by 9.15 per cent, lost the most.
Altogether 1,213 trades were executed during the session generating a turnover of OMR5.50 million with more than 17.52 million shares changing hands. Out of 48 traded stocks, 8 advanced, 28 declined and 12 remained unchanged. GCC and Arab investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR601,000 worth of sharse, followed by foreign investors at OMR29,000. Omani investors sold shares amounting to 630,000.
The financial Index down by 0.64 per cent to close at 8237.74 points. Bank Nizwa was the only gainer in the sector and was up by 1.16 per cent to close at 87 baisas. Gulf Investment Services, Al Madina Ivestment, Al Sharqiya Investment and Dhofar Insurance declined by 5.73 per cent, 5.56 per cent, 4.88 per cent and 4.76 per cent respectively.
Industrial Index down by 0.92 per cent to close at 9,585.72 point. Al Anwar Ceramic and Voltamp Energy increased by 1.16 per cent and 1.01 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, National Aluminium, Oman Cables and Raysut Cement declined by 7.3 per cent, 3.18 per cent, 2.04 per cent and 1.91 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index down by 0.80 per cent at 3,626.12 points. Al Suwadi Power , Al Batinah Power, ACWA Power Barka and Sembcorp Salalah increased by 0.56 per cent, 0.56 per cent, 0.55 per cent and 0.22 per cent respectively. National Gas,Port Services , Renaissance Services and OIFC declined by 9.15 per cent, 9.14 per cent,2.48 per cent and 2.28 per cent respectively.
