The MSM 30 Index continued its decline and closed at 7198.70 points, down by 1.57 per cent. The MSM Shariah index closed at 1,069.33 points, down by 0.37 per cent.
Al Anwar Holding was the most active in terms of volume while Omantel was the most active in terms of turnover. Sembcorp Salalah was the top gainer, up by 2.27 per cent, while Galfar Engineering, down by 8.81 per cent, lost the most.
Altogether 1,470 trades were executed during the day's session generating a turnover of OMR8.73 million with 19.63 million shares changing hands.
Out of 40 traded stocks, five advanced, 25 declined and 10 remained unchanged. Foreign investors were net buyers to the tune of OMR890,000 worth of shares, while Omani investors, who were net sellers, sold stocks amounting to OMR598,000 followed by GCC & Arab investors at OMR292,000.
The financial Index closed at 8,737.31 points, down by 2.55 per cent. Oman Orix Leasing was the only gainer in the sector and was up by 0.67 per cent to close at 150 baisas. Al Anwar Holding, DBIH, OMINVEST and National Bank of Oman declined by 8 per cent, 6.67 per cent, 5.78 per cent and 4.14 per cent respectively, Industrial Index closed at 10,058.05 points, down by 1.13 per cent. Oman Cement and National Aluminium Products increased by 0.52 per cent and 0.36 per cent respectively. Galfar Engineering, Al Hassan Engineering, Oman Cables and Al Anwar Ceramic declined by 8.81 per cent, 4.32 per cent, 2.69 per cent and 0.70 per cent respectively.
Services Sector Index closed at 3,718.16 points, down by 0.49 per cent. Sembcorp Salalah was the only gainer and was up by 2.27 per cent to close at OMR2.255. Renaissance Services, Al Jazeira Services, Nawras and OIFC declined by 4.09 per cent, 1.95 per cent, 1.79 per cent and 1.68 per cent respectively.
