Omantel is the first operator in the Sultanate to launch 4G-LTE roaming as the Company expanded its roaming agreements with operators in six different countries. The new service will enable customers of the largest telecom operator to enjoy superior mobile broadband speeds while roaming in those countries.
Commenting on the launch of the new service, Baha Mohammed Ridha al Lawati (pictured), General Manager of Carrier & Roaming Services said, “Omantel has reached another milestone in extending its 4G offering to its customers while roaming abroad. Our postpaid customers travelling abroad are now able to enjoy premium mobile broadband speeds as part of the 4G-LTE technology with operators in six different countries including Etisalat UAE, Vodafone UK, Netherlands, Spain, Ireland and New Zealand”.
“Omantel is committed to offer its customers with wider global roaming coverage in 199 countries while managing more than 1,300 roaming agreements. We continuously work on providing the best in class communication services keeping our customers connected in Oman and while roaming abroad. Omantel continues to expand its 4G footprint regionally and globally by teaming up with additional partners in the near future” Al Lawati added.
“The new feature will give extra impetus to the recently launched data roaming packages offered to our corporate and individual customers and it will continue on enhancing the customer experience while roaming as the LTE roaming offers at least 5 times faster mobile broadband speeds than 3G”.
Omantel has recently announced the launch of Jawazik data roaming package that offers unmatched data roaming rates for customers visiting the UAE. The service has been also offered to Omantel customers during Haj period. Moreover, Omantel launched GoBiz roaming packages for corporate customers that offers connectivity plans with unified rates while roaming with 40 countries across the globe in addition to included benefits at home country.
GoBiz comes in different packages that suit the different needs of corporate customers.
Omantel is working with international operators to expand the footprint of this service by adding more countries in the future. Omantel is listed on the Muscat Stock Market and trades under the name OTL.OM.
