Qatar Stock Exchange index closed slightly higher by 5 points, or 0.04 percent, when it closed yesterday at 12,450.34 points from the previous position of 12,445.34 points.
The market capitalisation decreased to QR675.08bn from QR675.34bn registered on Thursday. The traded value increased to QR509.16m with a volume of 10,074,849 shares from 5,959 transactions compared with QR454.27m with a volume of 9,653,186 shares from 5,631 transactions last Thursday.
Indices of all sectors ended in the green zone barring real estate which declined 0.19 percent to 2,449.61 points.
Transport sector gained most, with a 1.24 percent gain to close at 2,471.25 points.
Shares of 27 companies closed higher while 13 dropped and one remained unchanged.
Meanwhile, other Gulf stock markets diverged yesterday on mixed corporate news.
Saudi Arabia’s main index climbed 0.4 percent as property stocks dominated trading and Makkah Construction and Development was the main support, jumping 4.8 percent.
Dubai’s index fell 1 percent to 3,789 points. But the benchmark found support after moving below 3,800 points, the lower bound of the narrow range in which it had traded for the last two weeks.
Abu Dhabi’s bourse edged down 0.4 percent as heavyweight telecommunications firm Etisalat lost just as much, having jumped 5.2 percent in the previous two sessions on fourth-quarter results and dividends.
