Qatar Exchange (QE) index gained 51.69 points, or 0.46 percent in the past week as the market finished at 11,347.15 points.

The weekly turnover increased 1.51 percent to QR2.33bn compared to QR2.30bn in the previous week. The volume of shares traded increased 6.88 percent to over 57million, while the number of transactions fell by 20.73 percent, to 28,419 as compared to 35,852 last week.

The market capitalisation increased 0.49 percent to QR598bn compared to QR596bn at the end of previous week.

Banks and financial services topped the traded value during the week with 42.23 percent of the total. Real estate accounted for 26.57 percent, industries 17.24 percent, and telecoms 5.84 percent.

Real estate topped the traded volume during the week 46.11 percent of the total. Banks and financial services accounted for 27.27 percent, industries 9.92 percent, and telecoms 8.70 percent.

Banks and financial services topped the number of transactions in the week with 26.44 percent of the total. Real estate accounted for 23.71 percent, industries 22.03 percent, and telecoms 17.49 percent.

Of the 43 companies listed on QSE, 10 ended the week higher, 32 fell and one remained unchanged.

Commercial Bank of Qatar topped the traded value with 21.18 percent of the total traded. Ezdan Holding Group accounted for 13 percent, and Barwa Real Estate 9.23 percent.

Yesterday, the benchmark index dropped 38.75 points or 0.34 percent. Four sector indexes advanced, while three declined. Telecoms index gained the most, up 1.63 percent to 940.66 points. Insurance index was down 1.97 percent to 4,595.5 points.

Elsewhere in the region, stock markets consolidated after oil prices and global equities steadied, while Egypt jumped on strong economic data and corporate news.
