Qatar Exchange’s (QE) benchmark index gained 289.21 points, or 2.94 percent, during the past week when the bourse closed yesterday at 10,136.57 points.

Trading value during the past week increased by 13.45 percent to reach about QR2.29bn compared to about QR2.02bn registered during the previous week.

Trading volume increased by 10.40 percent to reach 63,929,443 shares as against 57,906,927 shares, while the number of transactions fell by 0.07 percent, to reach 28,738 transactions as compared to 28,758 transactions.

Market cap surged by 2.60 percent to reach QR536.93bn compared to QR523.34bn at the end of the previous week.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value past week with 38.92 percent of the total traded value. Industries sector accounted for 21.46 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 13.53 percent and Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 11.22 percent.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded volume during the week with 29.32 percent of the total traded volume. Real Estate sector accounted for 22.11 percent. Industries sector accounted for 17.75 percent and Telecoms sector accounted for 11.58 percent, reported QNA.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded number of transactions during the week with 29.37 percent of the total. Industries sector accounted for 21.79 percent. Real Estate sector accounted for 14.49 percent and Telecoms sector accounted for 13.82 percent.

Gulf International Services led trading value during the week accounted for 11.69 percent of the total. Islamic Group accounted for 8.33 percent and QNB accounted for 7.65 percent. The QE benchmark index gained 122.14 points, or 1.22 percent, yesterday compared to Wednesday.

The daily turnover jumped to QR468.42m yesterday with a volume of 15,624,479 shares from 6,081 deals compared to QR412.59m with a volume of 12,751,995 shares from 5,681 deals compared to previous day.

From the 43 companies listed on QSE, shares of 39 saw trading. From these 27 gained, eight closed lower and four remained unchanged.

Indices of five sectors ended in the green and two in the red. Telecoms index gained the most, up 2.72 percent to 1,052.36 points followed by real estate, up 2.71 percent to 2,322.22 points.

QE Total Return Index gained 1.28 percent to 16,065.84 points. QE Al Rayan Islamic Index gained 1.63 percent to 3,771.95 points and QSE All Share Index gained 1.05 percent to 2,742.15 points.
