Qatar stocks gained yesterday as trading resumed after the Eid al Fitr holidays. The benchmark index surged 141.26 points, or 1.42 percent, when the bourse closed trading at 10,105.52 points.

Trading activates resumed with QR537bn on the floor, after five days of Eid Al Fitr and weekend holidays. The market captialisation rose by 1.27 percent to QR544bn yesterday.

The volume of the shares traded increased to 3,392,623 from 1,909,846 and the value of shares increased to about QR162.83m from about QR100.29m last Tuesday.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded value accounting for 57.21 percent of the total traded value of about QR162.83m . Industries sector stood at the second accounted for 14.07 percent. Telecom sector was witnessed the third highest amount traded value accounting for 7.47 percent. Consumer Goods and Services sector accounted for 5.44 percent and Real Estate sector stood at 6.79 percent.

Banking and Financial Services sector led traded volume with 47.72 percent of the total traded volume.Industries sector accounted for 11.28 percent.

Real Estate sector accounted for 15.27 percent and Telecom sector accounted for 12.21 percent.
