Like the Dubai financial market index, the Saudi Arabian Tadawul All-Share Index lost 4.76 per cent on Sunday, November 30.
The TASI closed at 8,624.89 points after Saudi Arabian oil minister Ali Al-Naimi told OPEC that they must combat the U.S. shale oil boom, arguing against cutting crude production in order to depress prices and undermine the profitability of North American producers, brokerage service Mubasher reported.
Last week, OPEC opted for not cutting production to stabilise oil markets, triggering a sell-off for the “black gold” which hit a four-year low at $66 per barrel (U. S. crude).
Only four shares advanced, while a whopping 155 declined in value. Market bellwether SABIC, the world’s biggest producer of petrochemicals in relation to output, dived 9.90 per cent to SAR88.25, representing a 13-month low.
