AS part of efforts to strengthen academic and research collaboration, Cairo-based CPC has signed a memorandum of understanding with the American University in Cairo (AUC) that will provide research funds, sponsorships, training and career development opportunities to the university students.

The agreement was signed in Cairo by the General Manager of CPC – Egypt for Industrial Development Mohamed Elyafi, and AUC President Lisa Anderson.

The initiative is part of CPC’s on-going commitment to fostering partnerships with leading universities, which develop local human capital and contribute to further economic growth.

As part of the agreement, CPC and AUC will share their expertise and develop research, consolidated training courses and dedicated internship programs at the established industrial park of CPC in Cairo.

CPC will also offer scholarships for AUC students in the field of architecture, mechanical and civil engineering.

“This new agreement with the American University in Cairo exemplifies the spirit of cooperation we hope to continue to foster through collaboration and the exchange of ideas and brainpower between CPC and academic partners all over the region,” said Mohamed Elyafi.

Elyafi, also noted that the American University in Cairo is an impressive higher education institution in Egypt and the region.

Dr. Faysal Alaquil, CPC Director of Business Development & head of “Binaa Wa Amal” a CSR Division, said: “CPC is committed to building a sustainable business footprint in Egypt by investing in education and preparing graduates to enter the labor market.

Egypt is the fourth largest economy in Africa and the most populous Arab nation, giving the country enormous growth potential.

The country has a wealth of technologies and tools, making it imperative to teach young Egyptians the business-relevant skills to become professionals in the work field.”

Lisa Anderson, President of AUC, said “through the scholarships provided by CPC, two deserving engineering students will have the opportunity to benefit from an AUC education, unlocking a future filled with possibilities.

I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to CPC for this vote of confidence in AUC and for their belief in the value of education to advancing Egypt and the region.”

CPC has been supporting education through programs and agreements with different universities such as Effat University, KAUST, Dar El Hikma University and The American University of Sharjah.
